Earth Hour

On March 27th, 2010, from 8:30-9:30 PM Eastern time, people around the world will be challenging themselves to observe "Earth Hour."
Go to http://www.earthhour.org/ for more information on this global movement!
Things you can do:
1). Challenge your congregation to observe Earth Hour. Place the following announcement, or one like it, in your bulletin and newsletter:
"As part of our congregation's commitment to care for God's creation and to advocate for sustainable treatment of the earth's resources, we invite you to observe "Earth Hour" on March 27th from 8:30-9:30 PM Eastern time! Last year, millions of people around the globe shut off their lights and refrained from using all but the most necessary electrical power. This sends a powerful message of solidarity with all who are seeking to care for God's good earth! All you have to do is turn off your lights for one hour, and to use that time reflecting on our call to be good stewards of what God has given us. To learn more, visit www.earthhour.org"
2). Observe Earth Hour yourself, and write reflections about the experience in an article for a parish publication. You can use that hour as a time of prayer, reflection, or community discussion about stewardship of the Earth's resources.
